sigh (hack hack coff)

There's a lot of that going on in my house this week, along with ACHOOO. Stage III of this miserable rotten virus: rib splitting coughing, interspersed with sneezes that end in "ow, ow, ow." This is the usual part of colds for me - after the initial cold, I'm plagued by bronchitisy coughing.

Isn't that neat - just what you wanted to hear? Bleagh.

So, I got some herbal tea this weekend, before this whole thing went nuclear on me. I'm not much of a tea drinker, mind you, but herbal's usually OK. As long as I put in about a half a cup of honey. :) But this herbal tea, a remedy for coughing and cold and sore throat and congestion (one flavor for each), I am not loving even more than usual. It has black pepper, which feels like bees stinging my throat all the way down, followed by coughing spasms. I love fresh cracked pepper, but - officially - not in my tea. One of the primary ingredients in licorice, which tastes quite odd with my impaired taste buds, not in a pleasant way. So no more of that tea. I'm back to hot lemon and honey, as well as the herbal teas that I do like. :)

This is my second trip out of bed today - I'm heading back under the comforter after breathing some steam and preparing more hot lemon w/honey.

Any surefire cold remedies to share? My usual (echinacea, garlic, vitamin c) has let me down this time around!

Oh, you poor darling. I'm so sorry you are feeling poorly. Dirty rotten cold.

I don't have any sure fire remedies, but three things that help me are double dose vitamin c, blackberry brandy, and chicken soup.

Lots of rest, chicken soup, double dose vitamin c, a nice hot shower before bed, followed by blackberry brandy. Yes indeedy.

Feel better soon!

Blackberry brandy! Well, there you go. Who knew. Of course, I don't have a drop in the house. :)
