On preparation (or ... "it is what it is")

I'm a natural planner.  Lists, formulae, schematics, contingency plans, etc. come very naturally to me.  Several years back, I wanted to learn to live more spontaneously, so intentionally tried to live without any of the above.  It messed with my head, but I continue the self-training to the point that I turned into more of a doer.  Jumping in with both feet first became more natural, but I was never that comfortable as I did it.  (Imagine jumping into the deep end, while shrieking in terror.)

There are a lot of things I would do differently in prep for Renegade if I was given the opportunity to restart this adventure.  But in the end, it is what it is.  I had very limited time, given the other things happening in my life and in my business.  So, it is what it is.  I'm good at accepting things as they are and rolling with that.

Today, my friends, is my LAST DAY OF PREP (caps intentional!).  Yay!!!  Am I ready?  Absolutely not.  Will I be at the end of the day.  Unlikely.

(It is what it is.)

Could I have 20 more neckwarmers and feel better?  YES.

(It is what it is.)

Could I have another 10 cowls?  YES.

(It is what it is.)

Ohh, and what about those stitch  markers I really wanted to make?  Argh.

(It is what it is.)

And my super secret new ideas I wanted to test at Renegade?  Sigh.

(It is what it is.)

For today, I must live and die by my list.  Nothing must happen unless I put in on my list.  Yea, though I walk through temptation of every variety as I work with expeditious speed to accomplish every task on my list, I say unto thee ... if it not be on the list, I must not succumb.

OH WAIT ... blogging is NOT on the list!!!!!!!!!!

OK, I'm off, my friends.  I must be done with it all before 5 pm, my self imposed deadline, in order to have a fully packed car by 5:30, in order to focus on a spa evening for myself and be in bed and ASLEEP (with several alarms turned on) by 9 pm.

If you live in the Bay Area, come meet me!  (And forgive me in advance for my deer in the headlights expression!)  If you live near the Bay Area, come meet me!  If you're vending at Renegade, I can't wait to meet you!!!  (Wendy, here we come!)

If I forget my camera tomorrow, there will be much wailing and gnashing of teeth, but in the end ... it is what it is.

xoxo

What wonderful comments! Heather, how fun would that be! I will likely be visiting your neck of the woods in 2010 - I'll be in touch! Shana, I've been channeling your "sewing yoyo" tweets all week! I hear you and THANK you for the wisdom! Thank you, Ngan! And Wendy, we're ALMOST there. Yay! I like your mantras. I'm adding them to mine!

I'm tempted to extend my 5pm deadline to 6pm. But I need my spa night ... we'll see how it goes!

Thank you all!

You should be very proud of yourself! I know I am.

You've worked your head off (or should I say "hands off") and now you'll benefit from all your hard work.

I wish you a very successful Renegade, darling!
