Easter Rain

Yep, it's true, still raining, though we had a little break this afternoon.

Boy, busy busy day! Nice sleep in. Little bit of errands. Chores. Installed new curtain rods and hung curtains in my bedroom -- looks REALLY great. Put some shelves up in my room. Tried to set up and install my printer, but . . . found that I don't have a USB cord (I thought I did!). Darn! Then couldn't get online, and also wasn't getting digital cable on either TV, so thought . . . hmmm . . . must be something with the cable overall, not just my modem or computer. Then an hour later, I was able to get online.

Thinking about dinner. Maybe a jicama/orange/olive/arugala salad. Or maybe just a pint of ice cream (tempting, isn't it?).

Weekends are simply too short. I figured today I have at least 80 hours worth of projects to do, but only 16 hours/weekend, given chores and errands and sleep. Might have to take a week from work!

Still raining!

Oy, will it ever stop?

Busy busy busy. Lots going on at work. Great annual review (whew). Lots of job security, with lots to keep me and the staff busy for some time to come. It's budget season -- I have one done and many to go.

Started two online classes this week, accounting and econ. I know, I'm insane. I've pretty much decided to forego the MBA and go with the MPA with health services administration concentration: two years, starts 9/06, vs. three + years starting 1/07. Get it? I'll be done in 8/08. BEFORE I retire.

Watched King Kong today. Started slow, but I nearly came unglued during throughout, alternating between chewing nails, hiding eyes, or just watching in amazement. Should have seen it on the big screen! Peter Jackson is definitely a minor deity.

Worked on floor in living room today. Found a product that may help the wood flooring. We'll see what my test patch looks like tomorrow.

Cats are rolled up in a blanket that was fresh out of the dryer a few hours ago. I don't know if I'll see them before tomorrow. They've pretty much melded.

Nothing else that exciting going on. Bad news is the rain. Good news is that thanks to the rain, I have a GORGEOUS back yard, green and chock full of blooming calla lilies, lavender, daffodils, and some unknown flower.

Happy Easter to all!

When will it stop raining??? (part ii)

Pouring rain all day long. Just checked the forecast -- rain through at least Friday.

Sheeesh.

So so day at work -- hard to be really excited when you're wiped and in pain (see recent blogs). So, treated myself to pizza for dinner (yea, that's going to really cure me -- it will definitely help me retain a lot of water, hence, more swollen fingers). Greeted at the door by my bubbies -- always cures what ails me. Now we're all in bed, we'll I'm in bed. Fiona's in and out of bed. Who knows where Molly is! ("Where's Andre?")

So, I'm going to do a little work. I wish I had a good book to read, but I don't, so reading's out.

For a GORGEOUS piece of glass (ha ha, the pun isn't lost on me), go see http://glassholestudios.blogspot.com.

Lupus (or whatever) seems to be rearing it's ugly head

Tired tired tired. Ran errands for an hour or two, great aspirations of cleaning out the second bedroom, got home so wiped I couldn't put my groceries away while I collapsed on the couch for more than an hour. Got up every 30-45 minutes to put away some food, lay back down. FUN. Managed to roast a chicken and asparagus, bake some muffins and cut up fruit for a KILLER fruit salad. Mangoes, tuscany melon (VERY fragrant and rich), pineapple, strawberries, raspberries, oranges. I'm addicted to good fruit right now.

Before it rained, I spent some time exploring my back yard (IT'S SO BEYOOOTIFUL). I keep thinking I can hear the creek, and now I know why -- it's just kitty corner from the right corner of my back yard. YAY. Then, stoopid me, I picked up a rake. I don't really regret it, except that I had to lay down for an hour (maybe I'm anemic!). I uncovered more territory. Found MORE TRASH (the slobs who used to live her): broken toys, old lawn ornaments, odd bits of trash.

I did move the mattresses out of the back bedroom, but now they're in the living room. But I had to in order to get to the boxes that are still packed. Got a buncha boxes into a closet (books -- are ya shocked?). Unpacked a couple of boxes. Then ironed my new clothes, and got into bed for Grey's Anatomy and a little blogging.

Can't wait to go to sleep. It's nice and cool in here, fresh rainy air from the window. Unfortunately, the cats slept most of the day, so they're just starting to move around and make noise. Oy.

Great day, lupus or not

SO SO SO tired last night, completely wiped out, that "my bones are tired" feeling that comes with autoimmune disease. And I'm still there.

BUT, I had such a great day anyway, dagnab it!

Woke up after 10, decided to dress nice for a change (usually slob out on the weekend) and go to Macy's for some clothes. Stopped at DSW, got a pair of great shoes for $50, but had a $25 off coupon, so $25!!! Went to Macy's, 40% off additional the clearance racks (yay yay yay), did very very very well. I kept deliberating over this gorgeous antique gold brocade jacket, but kept thinking "what would Clinton and Stacy say?" finally put it back. As I'm checking out, I'm hearing a fashion show starting by the escalator, and who's voice do I hear??? . . . .

CLINTON.

No $#(O)(# kidding. I was so excited. So were little girls, young women, old women (so cute), and a whole lotta guys, too. SO GLAD I dressed nice and was looking good -- or I would have been called on the carpet (a few gals were).

I stood for two hours in my heels, watching the fashion show for we larger women (yay!) and just loving very minute of his oh so cuteness and really great fashion advice for the curvier of we women. He's a cutie: tall, slender, very smartly dressed, and cute as pie. Did I mention how cute he is?

YAY. Kris, Mom, I shoulda took a picture for you.

Found some really beautiful necklaces on sale at Coldwater Creek. I'm totally pooped by this point, knowing how much I might regret my grand adventure later this evening. Lupus is creeping throughout my body cells. I decide to forgo my planned bra fitting at Nordie's, but stop at Lane Bryant on my way out, and lo and behold, they offer bra fittings. So I got one! Of course, I've been wearing the wrong size, pick up a couple in my new size. Head for home!!! Picked up some lunch (hadn't eaten yet at ALL, and it's now after 3pm). Go home and lay down for the next six hours. (Also doing laundry.)

GOOD DAY. Despite the lovely pains I'm feeling throughout my bod. Despite the crushing, bone weary fatigue. Despite feeling weird buzzings throughout my limbs. Despite my hands not working so well, so that I keep dropping things. This is just my life. Been that way for >15 years. It'll be that way for way more than another 15 years. Because I have "mild" lupus. Ya, whatever.

Molly spent most of the day on the couch with me -- love that cat. I put her on kittenwars.com the other night -- I should see how she's doing. Fiona's thrilled that I've folded and put away all of the clothes hogging up HER bed, and that I changed the sheets on HER bed, and she's not curled up in my (HER?) lap on HER bed. Very happy little cat. Soft as cashmere. Thank god for my bubbies. They've taken to sleeping on either side of me at night, under the covers, so we all keep very warm (still freaking cold here).

Hard to believe it's April!!

Tomorrow, I must I must I must do major cleaning. I really want to clean out the back bedroom and start using it. I also need to sort out clothes and books, and decide what I'm going to sell on ebay, and then learn how to sell on ebay . . .
