I wish my camera was working so I could post some pix!
Bread's rising right now.
Stew's going in the crockpot next, so it will be ready tomorrow for lunch.
Leaves and acorns are dropping like mad.
It's been chilly enough for sweaters, so Fall washing today and tomorrow.
Molly and Fiona are fighting over me, making it hard to type. They both want under the covers, but don't want to share. Typical kids, right? Molly just won . . . but Fiona will come kick her butt.
I need to go get my fasting glucose tomorrow -- I've been extremely thirsty and itchy -- not good signs. I thought I was doing really well with diet and exercise, but maybe I'm missing something. Fingers crossed, don't want to do fingersticks, but more importantly, don't want to be damaging myself or shortening my lifespan.
LOVING the new laptop. Widescreen is the only way to go. Super lightening quick. Very light. My poor old laptop's keys are sticking, weighs a ton, and is slowing down.
MUST study, read, write papers tomorrow. Hoping to have a pajama day to do that, cook, clean, etc. Can't wait for tomorrow -- first day of October, best month of the year! I loaded up on really great crisp apples today.
Happy end of September!

New boyfriend

The Dell D820. Sigh . . .
Yes, I am a geek, but happily so. My new laptop is home, in use, still transferring files.
Just waiting for some Project Runway therapy this evening, while trying to learn how to use the beta MS Word 2007 (it's super cool, but so completely different from previous versions that I have to figure everything out from scratch).
Nothing else that exciting. Loving Zelda Wind Waker, which may just be the top 3D videogame of all time, if you can get past the motion sickness (a lot of it is on the ocean, yikes). Have to limit myself to 20-30 minutes at a time. Healthier that way anyway. The art is really something.
Midpoint of my wellness coaching program. I think I've made some lasting lifestyle changes related to exercise, water intake and nutrition. Yay! Lost a few pounds so far. Sleeping really well. Feeling much better.
Work is uber over the top busy. I have several staff openings in my own office, let alone other offices in the division.
After looking at Kris and Rich's pix from last weekend, I'm ready to go to Apple Hill! Want a slice of that killer Apple Pie!
Hope all are doing well. It's officially Fall! We're entering my very favorite month of the year: October! Can't wait to enjoy the scary classic movies. LOVE the waft of fireplaces at night. That nice crisp to the air. Could do without all the raking, but happy to have a yard TO rake!

What have I gotten myself into???
Due next weekend:
One 4-6 pg paper
Reading >600 pages
Web searches and reading
Actually, it doesn't look as bad now. I thought I had to write two papers. Whew!
The big annual street dance is just warming up outside -- as much as I love love love where I live live live, I hate hate hate the annual street dance, which is just a couple of hundred feet out of my front door. Thousands of drunken people, very very loud music from 5-6 bands, and then the folks who think it's OK to wander into our yards, look through our windows, toss their cigarettes, cups and beer bottles into our yards. I guarantee our trash, which was ~2/3 full this morning, will be overflowing tonight. And then the street cleaners usually run until 1:30 or 2am. Hope they all have fun! I'll be inside with earplugs and homework! Hope my cats don't go bezerk!
I have two loaves of bread rising right now. Whole wheat, flax, sunflower seed, etc. I've broken through my first big wall of resistance with the wellness coaching thing. One of my goals was to no longer drink soda, even diet soda, at the end of 10 weeks, which I've been resenting and resisting until this week. Yay! I've just lost my taste for it, and am drinking bucket loads of water. That alone is a hugely positive change. I'm getting addicted to fruit -- something I've never been that keen on -- another great change. Not tropical (high glycemic index), but stone fruit, grapes, berries, citrus. I'm less interested in junk and always looking for something healthy. YAY!!! I have some major cooking to do tomorrow. Today was more about cleaning.
I have TONS of work to try to do this weekend. Better get to it (just started the new fiscal year).

First day of school
First day of grad school:
It's an interesting group of people. Two already annoy me: one talks like a valley girl while loudly snacking and rattling her food wrappers, the other just can't stop talking. It always reminds me to watch my own know it all tendencies. Most are very accomplished in their particular fields, which raises the bar.
8am was ugly, and ending at 5pm makes for a LONG day. I was a zombie last night, but drank lots of tea with honey, and my throat's nearly healed today!
YAY!
Prepared food for the week today, did chores, played video games, played with my cats (who loved loved loved it). Now they're both zonked out, and I'm looking forward to an early night.
Hope everyone has a great week! I'm loving the early Fall chill in the air. This is my absolute favorite time of year!
- Tonsillitis
- Fever
- Massive headache
- Up until 2am the night before, writing a paper and a presentation
- Also up until 2 looking madly for one of my text books so I could do the reading (never did find it)

God gave us long weekends fgotor a reason
To re learn how to re lax!
So the question is, "how many videogame systems and games does one 43YO rather intelligent woman really need?"
The answer, "two more!"
Yikes.
Got myself a gamecube and a new gameboy advance sp (gave mine to my MOM for Christmas -- she's a tetris freak). Why did I do that? So I could play the Zelda games I got off of ebay! Wind Waker is COOOOL (cube). Played for several hours yesterday, just in awe of the
translation to 3-D from 2-D. Can't wait for Twilight Princess -- hopefully out in November!
Then I needed the advance SP for Oracle of Ages and Oracle of Seasons that I finally won from ebay (I've been trying for eons) -- can't play on my nintendo DS, because the old gameboy color cartridges don't fit in it.
hee hee hee.
The girls have been happy happy happy because I'm keeping the bird feeder next to the back window filled, and also scattering seed across the patio. We have VERY well fed birds.
The wellness coach idea is BRILLIANT. I'll probably buy another 18 weeks when my 10 weeks runs out. It's really great to talk with someone each week about my successes and my failures, get new ideas, positive feedback, not so gentle pushing to up my goals, etc. I might have lost a pound, but more importantly, I've established some new habits: drinking LOTS of water, cooking in advance for the week, eating salad every day, snacking on fruit and veggies. I just want for my first walk (yay!), and I'm hurting a bit. Not so much from the walk, but the rest of my body. I think I might have to start working with a chiropracter or something to get myself into better alignment. Everything feels slightly off.
SCHOOL STARTS ON SATURDAY!!!!
I bought my school supplies (hee hee) -- lots of colored pens and highlighters; paper; stapler (for the eleventy billion papers I'll be writing). I already have reading to do, and I think one or two short papers. Welcome to grad school.
But in 23 months . . . my post will be "I'M A GRAD SCHOOL GRAD!!!!!!!!!!"
Big shout out to Rich and Kris for surviving Burning Man! Call me when you're ready/able to talk!
(p.s., I'm a little embarrassed to share that I just won the "legend of zelda collector's edition" for gamecube, has four games on it, including Ocarina of Time, one of the highest rated videogames of all time . . . but can't wait to get it!!!!!)
